The ship had been held after an inspection at the Spanish port, and the faults found have not been made public.

The Algerian ferry Tariq Ibn Ziyad left Alicante in Spain on the night of 4 and 5 November, tracking data shows, after a stay there since late October.

ObservAlgerie said the ship is scheduled on several routes between Algeria and Europe. Its departure allows Algérie Ferries to use the vessel again.

VesselFinder and MyShipTracking, two ship-tracking services, recorded the departure. They rely on AIS, an automatic signal that ships send out and that receivers on land or satellites pick up.

VesselFinder recorded the departure at 23:13 UTC on 4 November. MyShipTracking logged it three minutes later, at 23:16 UTC.

MyShipTracking later showed the ferry arriving at Algiers on 5 November at 14:20 UTC.

VesselTracker said the ship was held from 27 October after a port state control inspection under the Paris Memorandum. This is a check of foreign ships at port.

The nature of the deficiencies found has not been made public.

The port of Alicante timetable had shown a planned departure on 6 November.

Earlier postponements had affected some crossings to Marseille.

The ship's return does not yet mean that all planned crossings have been restored.

Passengers with bookings should check the company's latest announcements before going to the port, including the ship assigned to their route and the departure time.
